Ewell Tomato Crop 2000 |

|
Sown on November 26th, the Espero tomato plants were brought from the propagating house into the main glasshouse on December 17th and planted in the troughs the next day. Out of doors, the temperature is 5 degrees Centigrade. Until the first buds are seen in the heads of the plants the temperature in the glasshouse remains at 20 degrees C day and 18 degrees C night. Hopefully there will be some sun during the day to relieve the pressure on the boiler! |

At 14 inch spacing in the troughs there will be enough room in between the plants for light to penetrate each plant and so maximize the setting of the fruit. From now on light is the essential factor to set the early trusses. But that is beyond our control! |
