Tomato Crop

The crop is now in fruiting mode with the first truss swelling out nicely. At this time of the year the plants look gorgeous - that is the only word for it! Stems are sturdy and mature and the trusses, forming one a week in the head, look healthy and strong. The fourth truss is now in the head and it is when we get to the sixth and seventh trusses that trouble can begin. Growth and fruit bearing are at their zenith and before any fruit is picked there is a great load on the plant. Management of the environment then comes into play in an attempt to moderate too much humidity or too little with strong sunny days. In a fortnight it will be all go ........!!!
